Day 1: Grand Palace and Wat Pho

After fighting off the first tuk tuk touts before hardly leaving the hostel, we visited the magnificent Grand Palace in Bangkok.


This is a site of historical and religious significance – serving as a place for royal ceremonies, but also housing one of the country's most revered Buddha images, the Emerald Buddha.



In the evening, we visited Wat Pho, an important temple near the Grand Palace.


And we finished the day with some Pad Thai:
